About Megan

Megan Maberry creates wearable art and immersive projects that explore stories of people, place, and identity.

Her work sits at the intersection of sculpture, fashion, and portraiture, often taking the form of handcrafted headpieces paired with photography and personal narrative. Each piece begins with a story session, transforming lived experience into something visible and shared.

Based on the Texas Gulf Coast, Maberry draws inspiration from the culture of Galveston and the people who shape it. Her project Island Icons features local community members through custom headpieces and environmental portraits, capturing the spirit of the island through real stories.

With a background in art education, she works as both artist and collaborator, creating pieces that center connection, transformation, and visibility.

Maberry is the official headpiece artist for several Mardi Gras krewes. She also hosts two signature events that bookend the season: First Slice on January 6th (King’s Day) and The Grand Promenade on Palm Sunday—an Easter bonnet stroll celebrating creative, festive hats inspired by New York City and New Orleans traditions.

Megan is the founder and designer behind the brand Hurricane Headdress. Ready-to-wear headpieces are available at www.hurricaneheaddress.com
